How Ukrainian news publishers use Editorial Transform to scale mobile video without sacrificing editorial voice.

The challenge

OBOZ.UA is one of Ukraine's largest independent news outlets, publishing dozens of articles daily across politics, war coverage, culture, and lifestyle. As mobile-video consumption grew, so did the pressure to have a presence on YouTube Shorts — but manually producing 50+ Shorts a day was not operationally feasible for a text-first newsroom.

The solution

Editorial Transform ingests the OBOZ RSS feeds, produces three formats from each article (vertical Short, horizontal landscape, and multi-story digest), and delivers them to the OBOZ YouTube channel and to a widget on obozrevatel.com. Editors review every video in the admin panel and can rewrite scripts, swap photos, or reject entirely before publication.

Results

~100 videos/day production capacity reached without adding video staff. Every published Short and horizontal video carries a source-article link, driving traffic back to obozrevatel.com. The embedded widget on their homepage adds an on-site video consumption layer for readers who don't leave the site.

The challenge

UAportal covers general-interest content — lifestyle, family, education, culture, history — where original article photography is often limited (a single photo per story, or none). Standard video pipelines fail on these articles, either padding with placeholder frames or skipping the piece entirely.

The solution

Editorial Transform's background pool feature complements sparse article imagery with topical stock footage (licensed for commercial use) selected automatically by AI classification of the article's primary topic. A one-photo article about a family lifehack becomes a full 4-slide Short with the publisher's original photo plus 3 thematic backgrounds.

Results

100% coverage of articles with at least one photo — no more skipped stories due to missing imagery. Editors can override any auto-selected background from the admin panel. Every video is disclosed as AI-assisted per YouTube policy.
